Beef and Cheese Wellington

Beef and Cheese Wellington

This Beef and Cheese Wellington is a savory, comforting dish with a crispy, golden puff pastry on the outside and a deliciously flavorful beef filling inside, combined with spinach and melted cheese. It’s perfect for a special dinner or a hearty family meal.

You’ll Need:

1 lb (450 g) ground beef

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 sheet puff pastry (gluten-free if needed)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).

Add the chopped spinach to the beef mixture and cook for another 2-3 minutes until wilted. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Roll out the puff pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the beef and spinach mixture in the center, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef mixture.

Fold the pastry over the filling to form a log, sealing the edges. Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden, shiny finish.

Use a sharp knife to make a few slits on the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed.

Let the Wellington rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Enjoy this Beef and Cheese Wellington with a side of salad or roasted vegetables for a delicious and satisfying meal!
